What is counselling?

Counselling, which also called psychotherapy or Therapy, provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your concerns, in this process you and your counsellor can explore behaviours, believes, feelings, relationship issues or promote wellbeing and good emotional health. Taking counselling is a big step to healthier and stronger version of yourself, to help you to improve your wellbeing , promote good emotional health and to develop a better understanding of yourself.
How does it work?

Therapy is about working collaboration between the client and the counsellor.
When you contact me for first time, we usually will have a brief telephone conversation to discuss your needs and have a general idea if I could be useful to you. If I think that I could help, we will set mutual convenient time and day for our first session together.
What to expect?

The first session in a therapeutic consultation. We will have an opportunity to explore and identify together the reasons that bring you to counselling, what is the desire outcome/ hope from the counselling and establish goals for your counselling. Additionally, it will give you the opportunity to ensure I am the right counsellor for you. We set out contract for a mutual work. Following the first session, and agreed that we both happy to proceed, ongoing session usually on a weekly basis and convenient agree time.
Every therapy session can be different. We can discuss how we might work together and explore what brings you to therapy. I will always listen to what you are sharing with me, with empathic, respect and warm, so we can develop successful therapeutic relationship and support your journey.
What’s the best type of therapy for me?

I use an integrative therapeutic approach adapted to your needs. in our first session we can discuss about the reason you approach
counselling, challenges you are experiencing and decide together what might be the best suitable approach for you.
How long will it last?

The needs vary depending on the concerns and issues that led you to counselling. Usually, I start with six sessions. This allows both me and the client to see how things are going and decide how to proceed with the process.
There are times when six focused sessions help a client, and sometimes, the client feels they need more sessions. If you decide to go deeper, the sessions can be longer. There is no fixed duration. Everything depends on the progress and development of the client.
How much it will cost?

Session cost: £45 for a 50-minute consultation. I offer several reduced-fee slots for those on reduced means. They do tend to get booked quickly but please ask if this applies to you.

If I have to cancel, will I be charged?

It is difficult to fill session times with less than 48 hours’ notice. Therefore, any session that is cancelled within 48 hours prior to the expected day/time will be charged at full price.
What will happen to any data you have stored on me?

Please see my privacy policy for further information.
Do you belong to a professional body?

Yes, I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I practice out their ethical framework.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, healthy therapeutic relationship based on trust and confidentiality. It can breach only if I have concerned for someone’s safety. I will discuss my concerns and what action I will take with you. The same apply when I am working with children and young people, because trust and respect are vital for the success of therapy. However, information will be shared with parents or carers when appropriate and only for the child / young person’s best interests. As with adult, I will have a contestation with them before. Any issues concerning child protection or safeguarding will be dealt with promptly, confidentiality and in a manner suited to the specifically instance of concern.

What Do I Do if I Don’t Like My Therapist When I Meet them?
You want to feel comfortable when you are disclosing your deepest personal information, and to feel connection if you are going to benefit from therapy! Trust is essential to success of the therapy and to establishing a good relationship with your counsellor. Without trust, your therapy may never be as effective as you hope for.
In our first session, or first few sessions you can have a chance to review if you think that I might not be the right fit for you and, if you feel comfortable with me for any reason. If you not, it is fine, and a referral can be made to another therapist.
The more comfortable you feel with your therapist, the more effective your therapy time will be, it crucial to remember that you get to choose what is right for you.
