A bit about me...

My name is Yamit, and I am a qualified, BACP-registered psychotherapist offering safe, confidential, and non-judgmental counselling sessions both in person and online, where appropriate.

My goal is to create a supportive space where we can explore whatever is happening in your life right now.

I relocated to England from Israel in 2012 with my family, a move that brought many challenges, existential questions, and opportunities for personal growth. This life transition reshaped my perspectives on friendships, family, self-discovery, and change—experiences that have deeply informed my approach to counselling.

I have been fascinated by the human soul and mind since my teenage years. I graduated high school with a focus on sociology and psychology and later pursued a bachelor's degree in sociology and criminology. After moving to England, I decided to further my studies in counselling. I was introduced to Adlerian therapy, which opened my eyes to the power of integrating diverse therapeutic approaches and understanding the healing potential of mental health therapy.

As a counsellor, I see myself as warm, empathetic, and deeply respectful of each individual’s unique journey. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship—founded on trust, acceptance, and collaboration—is essential for meaningful progress. Together, we explore the underlying issues beyond defences, integrating the past with present behaviours, while recognizing and honouring the mental pain that requires understanding and acceptance.

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s needs. These include:

  • Adlerian therapy, emphasizes personality theories, social connectedness, and the existential search for one’s place in the world.

  • Psychodynamic therapy delves into unconscious processes and their influence on behaviour.

  • Humanistic approaches, including Carl Rogers’ client-centred therapy and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, focus on personal growth and self-actualization.

  • Gestalt therapy encourages awareness and integration of mind and body.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), examines thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours to develop effective coping strategies.

I work extensively with children and young people, bringing both professional training and personal insights from my experience as a teacher in Israel and my work with children, especially those with special needs, after moving to the UK. As a mother, I often find that even in sessions with adult clients, the child or teenager within them emerges. When appropriate, I incorporate creative methods, such as art therapy and play therapy, to foster trust and enhance the therapeutic relationship.

I am passionate about lifelong learning and continually seek to expand my therapeutic toolkit to provide the best possible support for my clients.

In addition to my private practice, and work in partnership with:

  • Open Door: A non-profit organization providing free counselling to young people aged 13-26.

  • Embrace: Supporting children in schools who have witnessed or been victims of crime through face-to-face emotional support and counselling.

  • Kelly’s Heroes: Offering services to anyone affected by suicide, including first responders, passersby, and professionals in related fields.

My mission is to provide compassionate, professional care and to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges and work toward a healthier, more fulfilling future
